Stange Farm / Wisconsin Star Block

STANGE FARM
4440 Atkins Rd.
Vassar, MI 48768
Block: Wisconsin Star

Melvin Stange shares this history with us:

The barn was built in 1897 by my grandfather, Charlie. This farm and barn mean a lot to
me because it has been passed down from my grandfather to my father and to me. This barn was
used for storing hay and straw. The inside remains the same: two grain stalls, eight milking
stanchions, along with a hay and grain trolley.

The colors of the block that I chose represent John Deere tractors which I have a hankering
for. The first John Deere tractor I owned belonged to my grandfather, which was used on
this farm. I gained further interest in John Deere tractors (still to this day) due to my
father-in-law who loves to talk about the John Deere tractor industry. I'm proud to say, that
after my retirement, I have been blessed to work this farm (which is now organic) with my
nephew, Chris.
