We purchased this home in 2006. We have been told it was built before 1865.
The barn was in very poor condition; we worked about two years restoring it to a functioning
level. Currently we use it to house a small herd of cattle.

The barn's foundation consists of large boulders at each upright beam. It was constructed
using mortise and pegged process. Square nails were used to fasten the outside 
sheeting. Four 48 ft. hand hewn beams run the length of the barn.

After much consideration and process of elimination, David and I chose this quilt block
because of its vibrant colors and symmetry. It came down to which quilt at first glance
made us smile and feel happy!
