Prime Family Farm / Friendship Square Block

PRIME FAMILY FARM
4700 French Rd.
Unionville, MI 48767
Block: Friendship Square Quilt

The farm was bought in 1945 by Elmer and Edna Prime. The barn was on the property when it was
purchased. The barn is the second barn built on the foundation; the first one burned.

Dairy cows were milked in the barn until 1972 when a new milking parlor was built.

Son Larry and his wife Karen purchased the farm in 1978. Larry and Karen have 6 children,
16 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Larry is the only son of Elmer and Edna's four children.

The colors on the Friendship Square block represent red for Case IH, the darker green for Ireland
where Elmer's mother, Anna Cleary, immigrated from and the lighter green for Michigan State
and Eastern Michigan University.

Currently there are a third and fourth generation living on the farm.

Directions to the barn:
3 miles south of Unionville on M-24,  go 2 miles east on Dickerson to French Road,
