     The Montei Farm, established in 1874, has seen six generations. The farm has changed 
focus over the years: 1930-40's fox and cattle were the main livestock and then in the 1960's
the concentration was strictly cash crops: corn, beans, wheat and sugar beets.
     The grain elevator was built in 1962. It took three tons of nails and four trainloads
of 2 x 4's laid flat and nailed one on top of another to construct this 85 foot elevator.
     The Sugar Star block was chosen partly because this farm has raised sugar beets
for over 100 years.
