The Haines farm is the oldest farm in Arbela township and was settled in 1852. It is still owned by 
the original family now for seven generations. Built in the late 1800s the barn was made out of 
cork pine which was native to the area. The foundation came from stones removed from the fields
of the farm. In the 40s and 50s it was used for milking and later beef cattle.
