Fillhard Property / Victorious Block

FILLHARD PROPERTY
4150 Van Wagnen Rd.
Vassar, MI 48768
Block: Victorious
Block Size: 6'X6'

The pole barn on this property was built in the late 1980's or 1990's. The Fillhard's
put an antique wringer washer and a rinse tub in front, as well as a milk can as a reminder
of a simpler life - but not always easier!

The pole barn is covered with old barn wood that Richard salvaged.

The Fillhard's grand daughter, Victoria DuRussel, volunteered to work with the
Thumb Quilt Trail committee to make blocks at Tuscola Technology Center in Caro.  She enjoyed
participating and wanted to create a block.  Ann enjoys seeing the blocks on other barns, so Victoria
got to work and made the block. Victoria chose the block because she liked the design.
They decided to name it "Victorious". To Ann, it is a block of pride and freedom. It also
reminds her of a child's pinwheel.
