Brown Barn / Blazing Star Block

BROWN BARN
4125 Riskey Rd.
Sebewaing, MI 48759
Block: Blazing Star
Block Size: 8'X8'

The barn was built in the 1930's with the smaller additions to the east built in the 1950's and 1970's.
In 1999, the Michigan Historical Commission recognized the ownership of this farm by the family of
Jacob Brown as a Centennial Farm. Orville Brown, son of Jacob, moved to the farm in 1933. After
returning from World War II, his son Walton "Josh" Brown assisted with the family and he and his
family moved to the farm in 1951.

The Blazing Star block was designed by Beth Brown. Placing the block on point shows off the "hip"
roof and the bold colors contrast nicely with the colors of the barn.

The barn is located one mile east of Bay Port Road and 1/4 mile south of Rescue, or 1-1/4 mile
south of Sebewaing Road
.
